In 2010, I moved to Canada. Most of you will already know this, especially if you took the time to a) glimpse over my side bar, b) have ever spoken to me, or c) have ever read anything I've written (apparently the British accent is something that I cannot stamp out of my writing).
I moved from Leeds, Yorkshire, which, if you ask me (which you did), is
the friendliest yet coldest city in England. I moved to Edmonton, Alberta and then to Prescott, Ontario (one hour south of Ottawa) in 2012. During that time I've seen a lot of Canada and experienced all kinds of unusual exposures to a foreign culture.
Being an expat in Canada has been a great experience, although the winters have been hard to get used to and I truly believe that I will forever stick out as a foreigner during those winter months.
Recently, I applied to be listed as an expat blogger on the
Expat Blog and my application was accepted. In honour of this, I decided to write a few posts on what living in Canada has been like, the difference between being an expat in Alberta vs Ontario and things I wish I'd known when I moved here.
So, if you have any questions, let me know in the comments!
