Liebster Award

I kinda won a prize for my blog and my writing! This is amazing for me and makes me happy down to my toes. It also makes me happy because this past month or so has really been the start of developing networks and meeting some awesome people courtesy of the interwebs.

So what exactly is the Liebster Blog Award?

You can view more about the Liebster Award here. but basically, it’s an award that started in Germany. This award gives small bloggers the recognition they rightfully deserve for their hard work. A fellow blogger bestows it to someone who they think has a worthy and inspiring blog.

The rules are at the bottom of the page

The questions from Somewhere between here and there are as follows:

1.Why did you want to start a blog?

I started my blog for a number of reasons. Mainly because it allowed me some space to express myself creatively, take a determinedly positive stance in life and share my stories with my family and friends in different countries/provinces. I have blogged for years. 2005 was the year of my first, pretty bad blog. I have blogged in various places, through various platforms and through various identities since then. It's always exciting and it has always provided me with an outlet of some sort.

2.Are you a morning or night person?

I am both. I'm naturally a night person and could easily stay up until the early hours doing not much, but since marrying The Canadian, I've had to to change my outlook. I found that waking up late wasn't doing much for me and that irregular routines make me grumpy. So, I do early(ish) as a compromise. It works well for now.

3.Favorite flower?

I love lilies. I love day lilies, long stemmed white lilies. Lilies in general. Lily of the valley is also a favourite, even though it is considered a weed in Ontario.

4.Favorite sweet?

British anything. I love British chocolates because they don't have as much wax in them as their North American equivalents. If you gave me a bar of Cadbury's milk chocolate from the UK, I would be your friend forever and ever! It's a pretty bad addiction, I thought about seeking help but some things are just not worth fighting.

5.What is one thing that you're great at?

I am great at finding people's strengths and making them feel good. I enjoy this about myself.

I also write excellent resumes. I don't know where that came from but it's a strength I'm willing to own.

6.If you won a million dollars, what would you do with it?

This is really boring but I'd actually pay off debts and my mortgage. Then I'd go on a holiday and invest. I'd get my retirement plan done immediately so I'd never have to worry about it again and then I'd come right back here and continue as normal, without the money worries, whilst completing a second degree or something. Like I said, I'm incredibly boring but knowledge makes me happy.

7.If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

JK Rowling? Zadie Smith? Maya Angelou? Any one who writes for The F Word? My best friends who live in England? I'm more inclined by the latter.

8.Favorite childhood memory?

Sitting on the steps outside my house, mixing mud and water together and making my own version of 'Mississippi mud pie', complete with pebble decoration.

9.Coffee or Tea?

Tea! Coffee is disgusting. Tea, at best, is ok. The Canadian tells me I am a dreadful British person because my cups of tea are pretty abysmal.

10.What would be your ideal day?

Painting all day, with meals brought to me and a continual supply of juice. Or, spending time with my best friends, drinking tea/wine/hot chocolate and just talking about everything and anything. The whole day with the Canadian, doing nothing, not thinking about house mess, renovations, shopping lists, budgets. My wants are pretty simple.
