50 things about me

It's been pretty quiet on here. Whoops. When your husband, friends and family start asking why you haven't written anything in a while...well, that's a pretty big indication that you need to get back on it.

I have been quiet for a whole host of reasons, but mainly it's because I just didn't see the point in continuing to write about anything. One thing the break allowed was the amazing feedback from those who missed seeing what I was writing, it's the small comments that made me feel brighter and inspired to write again. However, seeing as I'm not all that good with routine at the moment, I'm not going to promise x number of posts a week. We'll just see what happens. Saying that, if you find that you're missing a post/ need an update, swing this way and leave a comment/ email me / text me/ whatever. It's nice to hear the feedback.

So, let's talk about me (my favourite topic!):

  1. I am most definitely a words of affirmation woman (see above for proof of that), oh and the gifts one (but I can take that love in the form of time).
  2. I just enjoyed taking all the quizzes on the 5 love languages site
  3. I am an Expressing Regret apology person
  4. ...easily distracted...
  5. I am quite the perfectionist
  6. Although, I do try hard to enjoy the imperfections and lessons that come from making mistakes
  7. I enjoy driving
  8. I drive to clear my head, this is especially useful if I'm anxious about something in particular
  9. I've never smoked
  10. Except that one time that The Canadian gave me a cigar but I'm not sure if that counts because I didn't inhale
  11. I'm feminist
  12. Even though I hate the term feminist
  13. I would, if pushed, describe myself as a post-modernist, black, semi-marxist, egalitarian feminist, but that's just a mouthful
  14. I watch dramatic TV shows, usually those focused on a profession, like House of Cards, House, The Guardian, The Mentalist et al.
  15. I won a prize for my photograph
  16. I enjoy documenting life through my camera
  17. I go through phases with cameras
  18. Seeing as I'm in the midst of the #100happydays project my focus is on my phone camera and instagram
  19. Creativity is something that I ignored for a very long time
  20. It's likely because my mum pushed me to be creative all the time and when that happens you take it for granted, I never considered it to be an unusual skill
  21. but then I realised it made me happy and that, just sometimes, I was really good at it
  22. So, I have a science-y, data and research based degree
  23. but I'm happiest when I'm doing paint-y things
  24. I also really enjoy drawing and creating patterns
  25. I do not have a favourite colour, but I am drawn toward the bright and vibrant
  26. ...and brown is most certainly not my favourite...
  27. except when it's chocolate, then I love it
  28. I really love chocolate
  29. I'm surprised I got to 29 without struggling, so 29 can be: I have two sisters
  30. I usually like them quite a lot
  31. I have been in Canada for a few years now
  32. but I still say very British things
  33. sometimes I forget whether a word or a phrase is British or Canadian and it all gets very confusing
  34. If I say or do something strange, I'll blame it on being British (or Canadian, if I'm in the UK)
  35. Living in a foreign country has made me exceptionally good at picking out British accents, it's like a honing device
  36. Although I think of England as my home in a nostalgic, cosy way, I consider Canada to my real home now
  37. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain. Like, a really big wimp.
  38. My last 2 fillings required a total of 9 injections
  39. I am pretty organised but incredibly messy
  40. but I like clean and really dislike germs
  41. I also dislike bugs
  42. and rodents
  43. I don't have a preference for dogs or cats but I do love my kitties
  44. I make a lot of connections between things and think about thinking and learning, a lot-a lot
  45. I was once told by a very smart friend that this means I am a meta thinker, but since I've failed to find a definitive description of what that entails, I'll take her word for it
  46. I am an INFJ (apparently)
  47. while I don't know if I believe in the MBTI tests, it does explain a lot about me in a way that makes sense to my experiences and those around me
  48. I am very passionate
  49. especially about the underdog, social justice, racism, ignorance and social education
  50. I try not talk about those things on here too much
