This time, exactly 3 years ago, I was having a mild panic about ... well, everything. Oddly enough, being the super organised person I am, we had a very laid back and somewhat unplanned wedding.
There were no white dresses, big hair, large cakes or limousines. We wrote our own vows and we had a spot that we would meet at and 'do the deed'. We invited a very small group of people to join us and it turned out to be a lovely day. I don't know if I could have taken a bigger wedding with more folk and bigger expectations. I highly doubt I would ever make a bride-zilla. The simplicity of it was perfect.
After all, our life together has been more than extravagant, complicated and delightful. I am delighted that my husband and I are able to take pleasure in the small things. I love him to pieces and I am forever delighted and inspired by his calm and patience to my high-strung, high-energy, dreamer like personality.
Last year, he indulged my wish to 'do' something for our anniversary rather than exchanging gifts (we were pretty strapped for cash at the time), and out came the cotton blanket fort, which took ages to construct and took up an entire room for a week.
You can guarantee that I'm now dreaming of fondue and looking forward to the end of the work day (this is pre-scheduled folks - I'm not writing it on work time, just sayin').
:) I hope you all have a wonderful May 28th. I'll get around to sharing gift ideas for leather anniversaries soon.
If you're interested in the anniversary customs, you can see it here. We use the traditional (British) list.
