Toronto Birthday Trips

The Canadian turned 30 and since we like to do things rather than buy gifts, I took him to Toronto for the weekend.

We decided to take the 'scenic route', adding a small 4 hours to our journey (I kid you not, taking the 401 all the way is not the best idea!). We saw loads of really cute little places and shops, stopping often for coffee and snacks.

We spent most of the weekend exploring Toronto on foot, especially all the little sushi stores and the distillery area. Travelling and seeing new things sets my imagination and creativity on fire. Seeing all the stores, all the designer furniture stores and the architecture gives me big ideas for our home. *sigh* champagne girl/beer budget.

We walked across town and ended up in the distillery district. We spent the majority of our morning there, ate cornish pasties for breakfast and saw all the big important touristy buildings. Toronto was fun but it was the drive to and from that made it exciting. I have a little obsession with the great lakes so I insisted on stopping at various points to see Lake Ontario with all its awesomeness. So, so big!

I have now seen two of the great lakes (seriously, I am enthralled and amazed every time I see one. Am I the only one who is seriously entertained by them?) and I loved stopping off in Cobourg, visiting their British store for some (recently banned from Canada) Iron Bru and Dandelion and Burdock. Nothing quite does it like those drinks huh?

It was a fabulous weekend. I now know, thanks to The Canadian's 'pedometer' contest at work, that we did over 30k steps in 7 hours thanks to all the working we did in Toronto. Kinda healthy right? Makes up for all the British chocolate we ate.

1. Distillery district  and Toronto skylines. 2. all the delight from all the chocolate and travel funs. 3. little birdies who love cornish pasties. 4. windows that I wanted to install in our living room, the Canadian disagreed. 5. chocolate making and the best hot chocolate ever! 6/7/8/9/10. all that walking and all that street art. Best thing ever!
