The Big Reveal

Which one was the lie?

A few days ago, I posted this little piece of brilliance. 6 facts, one of them a lie. Most people who know me well could guess at the correct answer. But if I have yet to confirm your answer, then keep reading:

Fact 1.

Snowman building:
TRUE. I really enjoy building snowmen. It's not a lie. I genuinely thought that moving to Canada would mean that I could build many a snowman, judgement free. Alas, this was not to be the case.

This year, I wanted to build a snow fort around my front garden but I fear my neighbours already believe me to be cray-cray (it must be the living room dancing and sticking paint samples to my door), so I've resisted that...so far.

Fact 2.

Pool cue threats:
TRUE. I worked in mental health for a few years. Although most of my client experiences were pleasant and rewarding, issues were known to occur when individuals stopped taking medications and/or dosages were changed.

One client stopped taking his meds and changed from his normal, stable self to something very scary. Unable to understand why I'd asked him to stop playing pool and join the group, he threatened to hit me, believing that my request was part of a larger plan to hurt him. It escalated and de-escalated quickly. There was little I could really say to him because he genuinely thought I was trying to hurt him. Eventually, he put the pool cue down and stormed out.

Fact 3.

Monopoly:
TRUE. I am an aggressive monopoly player. In fact, any bored game is enough to bring out my competitive inner beast.

My first Christmas in Canada was marked by The Canadian purchasing me a version of Monopoly and him explaining to me that he really wasn't very good at the game. He then proceeded to win and win, well.

Not enjoying this one bit, I got drunk and 'fell asleep'. I really was tired but it was more from shame than anything else.

Fact 4.

Twilight and Mainstream TV:
FALSE.
I really try to read things that are in the mainstream, because I like to be cool - sometimes. I have read the Twilight series, obsessively at one point (it was so bad it was almost good), 50 shades of grey (I wish I would have kept a notebook and pen through that ordeal to make notes when it didn't live up to my Feminist ideology). I tried watching the Vampire Diaries and quickly became bored. However, I enjoyed the hunger games and harry potter series. I have watched some pretty mindless TV shows but generally, I read and consume media that makes me think and doesn't consist of insipid female characters.

Fact 5.

Spiders and Spider Therapy:
TRUE. I have never liked spiders. My parents used to call them 'Charlie', so that I'd think they were friendly. did. not. work. at. all. When I was 11, I was on a school trip when a spider crawled up my leg and freaked me out. Since then it got progressively worse and when I was 16, I was eventually referred to CBT with a very pregnant therapist, who left a few months later. I continued to read up on graded exposure and phobias and eventually trained myself to 'deal' with spiders. I still don't like them but at least now I can tolerate them being in the house, so long as they are FAR away from me.

Fact 6.

Language:
TRUE. I actually wanted to study Arabic at university but after an unfortunate event with my German teacher during my A Levels, I changed tracks. I wish I could speak Arabic better but, c'est la vie. I can however, write my name in Arabic (my friend says it looks like a blind dog wrote it, so take from that what you will) and insult you quite profoundly. It's brilliant. I love languages but have never had an interest in French. Sorry, I just find it boring.

So, how well did you do? Did you get it right?
